Most Likely Causes
The most frequent cause is a bent track, often from an impact or a heavy object leaning against it. A broken spring or cable can also pull the door unevenly until a roller jumps the track, and worn rollers riding loose inside an aging track make the problem more likely over time.
What Not to Do
Don't try to push, pull, or lever the door back onto the track yourself. An off-track door can be under uneven spring tension, and forcing it can cause a sudden, uncontrolled drop. Leave the door in its current position and secure the area if needed.
